The process

Six stages. One outcome. Your athlete, correctly placed.

Every family we work with goes through the same six-stage process, built from first-hand experience of navigating the US collegiate system, and designed to produce the best possible outcome for your athlete at every step.

Our approach

Personal. Precise. Founder-led throughout.

Collegiate Sports Group works with a deliberately small number of families each year, because doing this properly requires personal involvement at every stage. Our founder is directly involved in every assessment, every outreach, every offer evaluation, and every conversation.

Direct founder involvement at every stage

From initial consultation through to arrival on campus. One person responsible throughout.

Honest assessment before any fee is paid

Both parties enter the process with clear, aligned expectations. No flattery.

Targeted outreach to matched programmes

Personal contact with specific coaching staff at specifically selected schools.

No financial relationship with universities

Our only obligation is to the family we serve. No commission. No conflict.

The six stages

A process built on experience, not assumption.

Every stage exists because it matters. Nothing has been included for optics. Nothing that matters has been left out.

01
Stage one

The consultation.

The process begins with a private, no-obligation conversation directly with our founder. We want to understand your athlete's ability, your family's ambitions, the timeline you are working with, and whether Collegiate Sports Group is the right partner. We ask detailed questions and answer yours with equal directness.

What we cover
Your athlete's current level, club history, academic grades, intended US start year, and the type of programme and location you are considering.
What you receive
An honest initial view of what is realistic for your athlete, and a clear explanation of the process and investment involved if we agree to proceed.
02
Stage two

The assessment.

Before a single programme is contacted, we conduct a thorough and honest assessment of your athlete. We review match footage, academic records, physical profile, and competitive history. This assessment also determines which standardised testing requirements apply to your athlete.

What we assess
Match footage, academic transcripts, physical attributes, positional profile, competitive history, and personal character.
What you receive
A written assessment identifying your athlete's realistic target division: D1, D2, NAIA, or Junior College.
SAT & ACT testing
NCAA D1, D2, and NAIA all require a SAT or ACT score. Both tests are available at UK and Gulf test centres. Junior College pathways have minimal or no test requirements.
03
Stage three

Profile & outreach.

With the assessment complete, we build a compelling athlete profile and begin targeted outreach to coaching staff. The profile is professional and specific. The outreach is personal, directed to specific coaches at specific programmes that we believe are the right match.

The profile includes
Athletic biography, position and attributes, highlight reel guidance, academic transcript summary, and personal statement tailored for US coaching staff.
The outreach covers
Direct contact with head coaches and assistant coaches at a curated shortlist. All follow-up managed by our founder personally.
04
Stage four

Programme match & offer.

As coaching staff respond, we manage all communication, facilitate video calls, and guide the evaluation of scholarship offers. We assess each offer against your athlete's standard, the programme's academic standing, location, coaching environment, and the realistic opportunity for playing time.

Offer evaluation
Standard, location, academic quality, playing opportunity, scholarship value, and total financial package reviewed in full.
Negotiation support
Where appropriate, we negotiate on your behalf, drawing on our understanding of what your athlete's profile warrants.
05
Stage five

Visa & eligibility.

Once an offer is accepted, we guide the full administrative process: NCAA eligibility clearance, F-1 student visa application, academic transcript evaluation, and university enrolment paperwork. Every step is explained clearly and managed carefully.

NCAA eligibility centre
Full guidance registering, submitting transcripts, and navigating all compliance requirements.
F-1 student visa
Step-by-step support with I-20 documentation, SEVIS fee payment, and visa interview preparation.
06
Stage six

Arrival & beyond.

The offer is not the finish line. Arriving in a foreign country, joining a new team, and managing the demands of sport and full-time academic study simultaneously is a significant adjustment. We prepare every athlete and family for that transition.

Arrival guidance
Practical preparation for campus life: what to expect, what to bring, how the schedule works, and how to make the most of the first weeks.
Premium - first semester
Regular contact through the first semester: performance, wellbeing, and academic progress monitored with the family fully informed.
Timeline

From first call to first day on campus, typically 4 to 12 months.

Age note: CSG works with athletes aged 14–20. Athletes will not travel to the US until they are at least 18 years of age. Most athletes begin in the Fall intake (August). Spring intake (January) is also available.

An honest conversation first

We assess before we commit. Always.

Before we accept any engagement, we give every family an honest assessment of what is realistic. We cover athletic standard, academic eligibility, standardised testing requirements, timeline, and fit. If any of these create a genuine barrier, we say so clearly, before any fee is paid.

We discuss openly at the consultation stage when:

The athlete's academic profile requires additional preparation before NCAA or NAIA eligibility can be achieved

SAT or ACT preparation is needed before the required score can be realistically achieved

The Junior College pathway is the most appropriate starting point given the athlete's current profile

Additional athletic development would materially strengthen the offers available

Begin the process

Stage one starts with a single conversation.

No obligation. No fee. A direct, honest conversation with our founder about what is possible.
